The new PS125i gathers together the best features of Honda’s mid-sized scooter line-up in an exciting and stylish new entry vehicle that offers style, comfort, convenience and dependable economy for delightful days of commuting, errand-running or carefree riding enjoyment.

Advanced PGM-FI Electronic Fuel Injection System

Like the current Honda Pantheon and SH125i, the new PS125i features a fully digital Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system that sets the standard for fuel economy and clean emissions, while providing exceptionally strong, smooth and reliable performance. Ensuring quick starting and smooth response, this innovative system compactly integrates the throttle body, sensors and injector with the digital electronic control unit (ECU) for both the fuel injection and ignition systems into one compact and lightweight unit. This fully electronic system is also remarkably efficient in operation, delivering a precisely timed and metered shot of fuel straight into the engine’s intake port for optimised power and performance. Economy and low running costs are especially important to daily commuters, especially in these times of rising fuel prices, and the new PS125i really stands out with its miserly fuel consumption and long-term, low-maintenance reliability.

The Lowest Emissions in the 125cc Class

Like several of Honda’s latest fuel-injected scooters and large-displacement motorcycles, the new PS125i is also equipped with Honda’s most advanced HECS3 oxygen-sensing catalytic emissions system for the lowest exhaust emissions in its class. With its electronic circuitry integrated into the fuel injection system’s throttle body-mounted ECU, this system monitors the PGM-FI sensors along with an oxygen sensor installed in the exhaust system to precisely maintain the optimal fuel/air mixture for its catalyser element to minimise emissions of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrous oxides NOX), thus meeting the highest standards of environmental protection and easily clearing the strict limits imposed by the latest EURO-3 exhaust emissions regulations.

Spacious Riding Comfort

The PS125i’s relaxed and roomy riding position is highlighted by its plush contoured seat, easy reach to the handlebars and wide, flat floorboard. This wide, unobstructed floorboard area assures easy foot positioning freedom and an effortless slide onto and off the seat, certain to be welcome attractions for female riders. Slim proportions in the vicinity of the seat assure an easy reach to the ground for riders of all sizes. Its spacious contoured seat also provides comfortable seating for two whenever needed, even on longer rides.

Easy-Operation Combined Brake System

Like most of the scooters in Honda’s 125cc lineup, the PS125i features the enhanced braking control of Honda’s innovative Combined Brake System. Linking together the operation of a single 220mm hydraulic dual-piston calliper front disc brake with a 130mm standard, cable-operated rear drum brake, this system provides both novice and experienced riders with unrivalled operating ease and effortless control for assured braking control. In this relatively simple system, the right-side brake lever controls only the front brake calliper, like a conventional motorcycle brake system. The left-side brake lever, however, operates not only the rear drum brake, as in conventional scooter brake systems, it also engages the front brake calliper by way of an inline equaliser.

The Innova introduces a new generation of smart and stylish step-through scooters that offer even wider appeal than the famous Super Cub it replaced in our range. Featuring a host of modern features it sticks true to the Honda step-through philosophy of producing a motorcycle that is easy to use and maintain, offers super fuel efficiency and has bullet-proof reliability. With its great looks, wide range of easy operating features, strong performance, low fuel economy and remarkably low price, the Innova will prove to be as strong an attraction on the streets of London and Manchester as the cities of Southern Europe it was designed for.

Reliability

The Innova places a strong emphasis on long-term endurance and reliability with its world-proven, time-tested 4-stroke engine technology and quality construction. This inherent peace-of-mind also extends to such features as its large, bright multi-reflector headlight and large, elegantly styled muffler cover, while extra convenience comes in the form of easy push-button starting and the spacious carrying capacity found under its locking tandem seat.
Forward leg shields are integrated into its bodywork to provide protection against the wind and elements while still maintaining a slim, easy-riding form. Below, a sharply designed undercowl takes up room under the engine to complement the bodywork’s design.

Forward visage

The forward visage is topped by a compact handlebar cover, with curvaceous lines blending cleanly into the curves of its beautifully moulded multi-reflector headlight, with its large, clear lens. Below this, its forward bodywork is highlighted by a centrally positioned front grille covering its built-in horn, while large, eye-catching multi-reflector indicators take prominent position, cleanly integrated into the upper edges of the leg shields. At the rear, compact indicators mounted on flexible stalks are positioned on either side of the compact, high-visibility taillight integrated into the Innova’s tail.
Seating comfort is a big feature on the Innova, and its broad, flat tandem seat provides a comfortable perch for two. Underneath the tilt-up seat is a convenient 7-litre carrying space to hold a number of travelling essentials.
Foot rests are standard rubber-sheathed motorcycle-type pegs, including fold-up pillion pegs mounted on sleekly styled cast aluminium stays. A large, cast aluminium pillion grip surrounds the rear of the seat, providing a comfortable and convenient hand hold for passengers, while offering a secure anchor to tie down larger parcels.

Comfort

A large, cast aluminium pillion grip surrounds the rear of the seat, providing a comfortable and convenient hand hold for passengers, while offering a secure anchor to tie down larger parcels.
Underlining the Innova’s sleek and modern look is a long, slim chrome-plated silencer with a daring slash-cut end that brilliantly accentuates its swift and lively personality while providing a quiet yet distinctive exhaust note.
Controls include all the standard items for this class of motorbike, and are built into the upper handlebar cover for a clean, integrated look, with even a handy push-to-cancel turn indicator switch to ensure quick operation. Even the instrument panel is a step above the ordinary, with such ‘big bike’ features as its LCD odometer and 5-segment electronic fuel level indicator, and round 5-segment LED gear indicator display providing instantly recognisable readout of all running conditions around the panel’s large, centrally positioned speedometer dial. LED indicator lights are marked with ISO symbols. The instrument panel is illuminated for easy viewing even at night, and the daytime headlight system further ensures the Innova stands out on the street, day and night.

Engine

The Innova’s engine is also designed to be both easy on the environment and easy on the wallet, with its newly improved carburettor providing a robust 46 miles of operation on a single litre of fuel (measured at an operating urban speed of 33mph) for excellent fuel economy, with virtually no smoke-producing oil consumption.
The engine also features an externally mounted low-emissions Air Induction system, which feeds fresh air into the engine’s exhaust port to ensure more complete burning of exiting exhaust gases, subsequently reducing exhaust emissions to well within current EURO-2 emissions regulations. Engine noise is also kept to a minimum, with a large-volume exhaust silencer keeping exhaust output muffled to a quiet burble, and a silent chain driving the single overhead cam to greatly reduce the sound of mechanical noise.

Transmission

The Innova’s easy-shifting 4-speed transmission features an automatic centrifugal clutch that allows easy gear changes without need of manual clutch operation. It also features a convenient rotary configuration that permits shifting directly from top gear to neutral after coming to a complete stop, rather than downshifting through all the gears.
An innovative External Primary Brake System (EPBS) built into the changer mechanism helps keep gear shifts smooth and free of the jerky operation sometimes associated with automatic clutch transmissions. Its see-saw changer features a standard toe shifter at the front and a heel pad at the back to make shift operation easy while protecting shoes from scuffs and scrapes into the bargain.

With elegant new styling and the top performance in Europe’s competitive 125cc beginner’s class, the new XL125V Varadero 125 dominates the street with luxurious full-sized comfort, distinctive good looks and the dependable power of a newly fuel-injected V-twin engine to carry two with ease.

Standing out proudly from every other motorcycle in its class, the Varadero 125’s elegant and distinctive new half-fairing features sleeker, more sinuously integrated lines that emphasise the intrepid look of an experienced world traveller. A new concept in its class from the very start, the Varadero 125 combines ample size and impressive styling that isn’t humbled standing side-by-side with a larger displacement machine.

Sleeker and Sportier Aerodynamic Fairing

Giving the Varadero 125’s distinctive bodywork a more curvaceous and sleekly integrated design was a main priority in its development. Exuding elegant quality of design coupled with a dynamic sense of agility, the Varadero’s new fairing features a lighter and sportier image with a slimmer and lighter-looking front cowl that is both more aerodynamic in look and more cleanly integrated into its overall form.

Though the Varadero 125’s new front cowl appears to be more compact than its earlier iteration, wind protection has been increased and its taller and wider range of protection plays a more effective role in deflecting wind and even light rain away from the rider for superb long-term riding comfort for even taller riders. As before, a vent system flows air in under the windscreen to helps deflect the rush of wind up and around the rider by raising the air pressure within the cockpit area.

New Design Dual Headlights

The fairing’s dual headlights have also been changed, and provide a sleeker, more aggressive look while brilliantly illuminating the road ahead. Large, clear-lens front indicators have also been integrated into the new fairing’s design, and attractively accentuate the new cowl’s more dynamic form. Smoothly integrated into the tapering lines of the Varadero 125’s tail is a newly designed, one-piece combination light featuring form-fitted clear-lens indicators surrounding a large central brake light that provides an attention-getting rearward display.

Even the Varadero 125’s rear-view mirrors have been updated in design, and these new, more sturdy and stylish units are now mounted directly to the upper surfaces of the fairing instead of on the handlebars for a more high-quality look of intrepid on-road style.

Deluxe Version Also Available

The new Varadero 125 will also be made available in a more Deluxe version that features a high-quality two-tone seat, an attractive moulded emblem attached to the upper surface of its front cowl, and more ornate silvery rims around its instrument panel dials, for a proud look of quality and prestige.

New Fuel Injection System

For its new second generation, the Varadero 125 has been fitted with Honda’s famed PGM-FI fuel injection system with a compact and highly effective Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) for optimal starting ease and performance in virtually all riding conditions from warm seaside to high mountains. Response is smooth, sure and steady, providing incomparable riding ease for anyone from expert to beginner. This lightweight new fuel injection system also ensures exceptional fuel economy and ultra-low exhaust emissions. Its advanced HECS3 oxygen-sensing clean emissions system features new twin catalyser elements built into the exhaust system to ensure easy compliance with strict EURO-3 exhaust emissions regulations while maintaining top performance.

Smooth-Shifting 5-Speed Transmission

The Varadero 125’s rugged 5-speed transmission accentuates the engine’s strong feel of low-to-midrange acceleration with a low overall ratio for quicker starts and livelier performance throughout the engine’s wide rev range. Its light-pull clutch and smooth-shifting gearbox offer easy-operating appeal to novices and experts alike.

High-Mounted Off-Road-Type Exhaust System

The Varadero 125’s sleek new ’Adventure Sports’ look is further emphasised by its attractive, high-mounted 2-into-1 canister-style exhaust system. This large-capacity system puts out an impressive V-twin sound and features a built-in heat shield for enhanced protection against the heat of the exhaust.

Responsive Suspension Systems

The Varadero 125’s compliant front and rear suspension systems provide precise, responsive handling and a comfortable ride whether zipping across town or chasing up lonely trails in the distant hills. Its rigid and responsive 35mm front fork offers neutral steering control and a plush 132mm of long-travel axle stroke to soak up big bumps along the way.

Supported by a smoothly responsive monoshock rear suspension, the chassis’ box-section steel tube swingarm offers superb rigidity and precise wheel tracking, as well as 150mm of smoothly damped wheel travel for a comfortable ride for one or two. Also, its relatively long wheelbase contributes to its responsive handling and confident control at higher speeds.

Sportbike-Look Wheels and Brakes

The Varadero 125’s attractive hollow-section, three-spoke cast aluminium wheels are mounted with an impressive-looking set of wide-carcass 100/90–18 front and 130/80–17 rear on-road tyres like those featured on larger machines. Their semi-knobbly treads provide precise cornering and easy control at all speeds, along with competent and confident handling when venturing off the tarmac onto less travelled trails.

The Varadero 125 is also fitted with excellent front and rear disc brakes. Its large-diameter 276mm drilled front rotor is stopped by a compact dual-piston brake calliper for responsive braking control, while a lightweight single-piston calliper grips the 220mm rear disc for a high-performance combination of stopping power.

High-Visibility Integrated Instrument Panel

The Varadero 125’s fully integrated instrument panel features large, fully electronic speedometer and tachometer dials for easy viewing. Between them, a high-visibility LCD panel includes odometer/dual trip meter and clock displays. The panel also features an easy-to-read analogue coolant temperature gauge. The Deluxe version of the new Varadero 125 also features silver-coloured rings around the instrument dials for a more high-tech feel.

Hidden Carrying Capacity

The Varadero 125’s comfortable locking seat opens to reveal a large storage space under the forward rider’s section that provides ample room for carrying gloves, tool kit and other riding essentials. A special mount for carrying a U-lock is also provided under the pillion portion of the seat.

Spacious Rear Carrier

Featuring rugged reinforced cast resin construction, the large, sleekly designed rear carrier mounted on the Varadero 125 offers ample carrying capacity and four convenient tie-down hooks to secure even larger loads with ease. This full-sized carrier also features contoured pillion passenger hand grips moulded into its rails that resist extremes in temperature to provide a more comfortable hand hold in extreme weather conditions.

Easy Maintenance

The Varadero 125’s left side cover detaches to provide easy access to such internals as the fuse box, and high-output maintenance-free battery.
